Hey there!

You’ve made it. Your moment is here. You’re a senior and this is your year! I am honored that you are considering Sally Yi Photography to capture one of the most important moments of your life: your senior portraits. I love senior sessions! Not only do I want to capture beautiful portraits for you, but I want you to have an amazing experience.

Together, we will customize a session that is uniquely yours. We will go over every detail – from location to outfits – to give you the best experience possible!

I can’t wait to get to know YOU. The real you. And then capture that on camera. Let’s get started!

BEFORE

About a week before your session, I will send you an email with directions to your session location and where we will meet. You’ll also receive a reminder to make your final payment. If you have any questions leading up to your session, feel free to reach out!

DURING

During our time together, you can expect me to do the most talking. I like to have fun and be creative with the senior. I will pose you and tell you exactly what to do, so you won’t have to worry about that. I take LOTS of photos to make sure I get the great shots of you, so you’ll hear my shutter snapping pretty rapidly.

AFTER

You can expect your proofing to be ready in 1 week and the final photos to be delivered within 2 weeks after your session. Your photos are delivered and showcased through a Pinterest-style online gallery of retouched high-resolution digital images with the rights to share on social media, make unlimited downloads on unlimited devices and print at the place of your choice.

LOCATION

At this point in the process, you may or may not have already chosen your location. I’d love to help you choose the perfect backdrop for your photos! There's no bound to what kind of background for senior sessions. But I do have my favorites. When you book your session, you will be ask to fill a questionnaire, after that you will receive a few location recommendations from me. If you have a specific location or a unique request in mind, please let me know in the questionnaire. We will customize your session to exactly what you have in mind.

Quick Tip: We don't always have a bathroom or a private place to change outfit at a photoshoot location. Be prepared to change in the car and a blanket ready to make covers.;)

STYLING TIPS for her

DON’T BE AFRAID TO DRESS UP

This is your chance to do it up! It's best to have at least 2 outfits prepared. You can style a casual every day lifestyle look, and then change into a more glam and formal outfit. Remember: There is no such thing as “too dressed up” when it comes to your senior session, so don’t be afraid to have some fun too!

Dresses and skirts look most stunning because they really flatter every female body, especially on camera! Long, full-length, flowy dresses are more editorial. Knee length dresses or skirts are more fun. Choosing flattering silhouettes and colors that complement your natural features is the best way to ensure you’ll love the way you look in your photos.

 Shoes

Heels elongate legs, making them look fabulous! Flats or Sneakers are more casual. If you have multiple style of outfit, you will need to pair it with different shoes to make sure they go together.

Quick Tip: Bring a pair of easy-to-kick-off flats or flip-flop to wear when moving from place to place in between photos. Your feet will thank you later!

CHOOSING COLORS

When choosing colors for your outfits, I recommend selecting lighter tones and more muted shades. By avoiding ultra-bright, bold colors, it will help bring all the attention to your faces and let the eye focus on you. But this is a personal choice. If you love bold colors and shades, you should follow your heart.

MAKE A STATEMENT

Pairing an accessory or two with your outfit can really help bring some extra dimension and pop to your images. Hats are very trendy right now. If hats are not your cup of tea, you can also add ear-rings, and necklace!

GO PRO: HAIR & MAKEUP

This is a great time to go pro! I highly recommend getting your nails, hair, and makeup done professionally. It makes you feel beautiful, and it looks stunning on camera!

FINAL NOTE

I know I just gave you a lot to think about. I created this guide to help make your senior session experience something you’ll look back fondly on for years and years to come. At the end of the day though, the location you choose and the outfits you select won’t matter nearly as much as the fun memories. You are the most important thing to me, and I want your senior session to be a time about you and for you to enjoy! Have fun. Laugh a lot. And I’ll take care of the rest!
